Step 1: Pre-Inspection

What will the next chapter of your Audi experience be? You can trade in your current model for a new Audi, keep your current Audi, or conclude your journey with us.

Evaluate Wear and Tear

Some vehicle wear and tear is expected. Follow each tab to see common damage items and what is considered “excess” wear and tear. Any excess wear and tear will be noted on your final inspection report and you will be responsible for the necessary repairs or parts replacements. Use the "Wear and Tear" card provided below to assist you in conducting your own vehicle self-inspection.

Improperly completed body repairs (e.g. mismatched paint, sanding marks and incomplete dent removals).

Any dents, dings, scratches, gouges or chips larger than 5 cm or 2 inches on the bumpers. More than two dents, dings, scratches, gouges or chips per panel, regardless of the size.

Any dents, dings, scratches, gouges or chips larger than 2.5 cm or 1 inch on any body panel. Severe paint chips. Unrepaired chips on the windshield. Four or more chips are present (even if repaired). VIN plate is not visible. Cracked, heavily pitted glass or any chip that has begun to spider.

Step 2: Third-Party Inspection

You can schedule an inspection appointment by contacting AutoVIN directly at (800)-556-2811 or book online at www.autovinlive.com. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to noon and 1 PM to 5 PM local time. They can be scheduled at your home or work. Please note that appointments may take more than one week to schedule in some instances.

Evaluating normal wear and tear

During the inspection, a specialist will evaluate your vehicle for normal and excess wear and tear using the included “Wear and Tear” card. Upon completion, you will receive a preliminary inspection report.* Your final report will be accessible on the inspection provider’s website within 48 hours. It can also be mailed upon request.

Any excess wear and tear will be billed on your Final Lease Settlement Invoice, unless you choose to have the items repaired prior to turn-in.

Government Motor Vehicle Inspections

Fees associated with any government motor vehicle inspections or tests required by the Province/Territory in which a Used Vehicle is being registered, are the responsibility of the purchaser. Please refer to your local Ministry responsible for governing the buying and selling of Used Vehicles.

It is important to note that a Lease-end inspection may not immediately reveal mechanical, electrical and/or structural damage. In the event additional damage becomes known upon return to the dealer, Audi Finance reserves its rights to recover those costs.

Step 3: Final Inspection

The final inspection with your Audi dealer is your opportunity to address any necessary repairs and maintenance you need to make, as well as any final steps.

Minimize excess wear and tear charges

In an effort to minimize any excess wear and tear charges, it is recommended that you review the final inspection results with your Audi dealer to see if any of the repairs are covered under warranty. Repairs must be completed before the vehicle turn-in date.

End-of-Lease Maintenance and Repairs

To avoid potential Excess Wear and Tear charges, please ensure your vehicle has been maintained in good operating condition and appearance in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations in the Owner’s Manual and the Warranty and Maintenance Guide. Repairs and scheduled maintenance must be completed prior to your vehicle return. Please contact your Audi Dealer for further details.

Step 4: Turn in your Vehicle

Follow these 3 steps below to turn in your Audi once your inspection and desired repairs are completed.

  1. Contact your Audi dealer to set up a turn-in appointment.
  2. At the time you return your vehicle to the dealership, you will be asked to complete a Vehicle History Disclosure Form.
  3. Keep copies of all documents for your personal records.

Your Audi lease has come to an end, but your journey continues.
