Updated Styling
For 2014, the R8 updates its unique styling, adding an even sharper, sportier look to its already aggressive design. A restyled front end, newly shaped exterior mirrors, redesigned tail lamp clusters and sport exhaust all help to depict performance in a visual way. The interior is well appointed with updated black matte-silk finished trim and chrome accents throughout the R8’s cockpit.
4.2 FSI engine
The R8’s high-revving 4.2 FSI engine returns to the fold. With uniform power buildup across practically the entire rev range, and high torqueTorqueTorque is what causes rotational speed to change. Just as greater net forces cause greater linear accelerations, greater torques cause greater rotational or angular accelerations.Torque delivery to match, the 4.2 V8 delivers stunning acceleration times. Rated at 430hp and 360lb-ft of torque, this engine feels at home under the hood of this iconic sports car.
quattro® All-Wheel Drive
With quattro®quattro®Audi quattro® permanent all-wheel drive, has had over a 30-year-long tradition.quattro® , optimal power delivery to the wheels is managed automatically and continuously for superior handling and phenomenal grip – even in less than perfect driving conditions. For R8, a unique Viscous Coupling system is utilized, creating a rear-biased torque split of 15:85. Up to 30% of the drive torque can be routed to the front wheels to ensure phenomenal traction and virtually slip-free acceleration.
7-Speed S tronic® Automatic Transmission
This year, the R8 offers a newly developed 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Designed to handle the incredibly high loads placed on it by the R8’s high-power engines, the S tronicS tronicS tronic, Audi's revolutionary direct shift gearbox (formerly DSG) combines the advantages of a conventional six-speed manual-shift gearbox with the qualities possessed by a modern automatic transmission.S tronic ® also offers phenomenally quick shift speed. With the additional option of manual or automatic modes, as well as the facilitation of launch control, the new S tronic® transmission is ideally suited for a high-performance sports car like the R8.
LED Headlights
Lending emphasis to the refreshed front of the R8, the new LED headlights, now standard on the entire R8 lineup, give this car a striking presence. The LED headlights feature a new interior design with a modified bulb arrangement as well as static turning lightsTurning LightsIn addition to the dynamic cornering light, the adaptive light of the Audi A8 contains a turning light.Turning Lights . Offering significantly better visibility than conventional halogen lights, the LED headlights combine both form and function.
Audi Magnetic Ride
The Audi Magnetic Ride damping system allows the R8’s suspension tuning to be programmed as desired (Normal or Sport) at the press of a button. When activated, small magnetic particles contained in the damper oil align so that they oppose the damper’s direction of movement. This adjustment to damping improves driving dynamics, vibration behaviour and roadholding.
Alcantara Sport Seats
Keeping the driver comfortable and firmly positioned, the R8 V8 comes equipped with a combined leather and Alcantara sports seat. Alcantara is a microfibre fleece identical in appearance and feel to suede. It offers exceptional grip in the seat centre section, making it ideal for the R8. The headrest and side bolsters are made of Fine Nappa leather to complete a very sporty look.
