Horsepower

Along with torque, horsepower is one of the key measures of engine performance. In general, greater horsepower offers smoother acceleration, less frequent shifts, and greater top speed. (For the curious, one horsepower is defined as the ability to lift 33,000 pounds one foot in one minute.)
