Audi SportAligned for the future

Approximately 160 employees in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm are devoted to development and testing the Audi race cars. The data they acquire through numerous testing programs is not only valuable to the motorsports teams but to the development of our road cars as well.

Since November of 1993, Audi Sport has been lead by Austrian-born Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Last year Audi Sport was restructured to further enhance its effectiveness.

More Than 25 Years of Success in Motorsport

Audi positions itself as the most sporting premium segment manufacturer and possesses the perfect base for this: motorsport. Sporting image, ground breaking technology and emotional design are the main components for the success of the Audi brand. The genes for this originate from more than 25 years of succesful motorsport.

From Motorsport to Production

Audi's commitment to motorsport is much more than simple marketing: The success of AUDI AG in motorsport was repeatedly connected with ground breaking developments which later went on to establish themselves in production. The best examples of this are quattro®quattro®Audi's quattro® permanent all-wheel drive, has had over 25-year-long tradition.quattro® drive, which revolutionised the rallying scene at the start of the 1980s, and TFSI-Technology which first saw action at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2001 and which took five consecutive wins at the classic French endurance race. Meanwhile, the combination of turbo-charging and direct-injection (TFSI) can also be found equipping Audi's sporting production models just as quattro® drive.

Historical Victories at Le Mans

Audi wrote a further important chapter in motorsport history in 2006 with the first victory of a diesel powered vehicle at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The success of the revolutionary Audi R10 TDI scooped the headlines worldwide, when it went unbeaten in eight races during its debut season. The R10 TDI continues its impressive series of successes today. In fact, every project tackled by Audi Sport to date has been crowned with wins or championship titles.
