“100 Years of Audi” was a very special anniversary for the brand with the four ring emblem, and naturally they wanted to celebrate in the town where the brand was founded, Zwickau in Saxony.
On July 25, 2009 Audi Tradition staged a cavalcade of motor sport cars from yesteryear to the present day. Well-known racing drivers attended, including world rally champion Stig Blomqvist, three-times Le Mans winner Dindo Capello and Harald Demuth, two time German rally champion.
Cars taking part included the Audi Rallye quattro A2 dating from 1984, Audi Sport quattro S1 from 1985, Audi 200 quattro TransAm from 1988, Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO from 1989, Audi V8 quattro DTM from 1992, Audi R8 LMS from 2009 and a Type D racing car with two-stage supercharger from 1939.
